ACTIVITY REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31ST DECEMBER 2024

We have:

  • Remained self-funding from the sales of discounted crime prevention products.
  • Addressed 14 private and NHW groups re crime prevention with due emphasis on the risks posed by cons & scams.  In addition, we have carried out a programme of 18 visits with talks to sheltered housing sites and care homes.  Total = 32 talks.
  • Held 6 WDNHWA committee meetings via Zoom and face-to-face.
  • Held one general NHW meeting at Godstowe School.
  • Resolved very many Alert database issues, including duplications, communications issues, deletions, mapping of schemes, and adding our approval of new Co-ordinators and new schemes.
  • Submitted 15 articles about our activities to many local magazines, including on raising crime awareness.  We have also submitted very frequent items to 5 local newsletters.
  • Continued to promote an arrangement with Selectamark, whereby our members can buy Selecta DNA security marking kits at greatly reduced prices directly from them with a small commission for us.  In a similar way, we continued to promote our link with Howden Insurance, formerly A-Plan Insurance.
  • Carried out 17 live radio interviews on Wycombe Sound of about 30 minutes duration each.
  • Held  5 table displays at the main 4 mosques in High Wycombe.
  • Held / attended 12 table displays in various public locations.
  • Attended 15 review meetings with local senior police officers via MS Teams or face-to-face.
  • Sent out 65 Alert messages on a variety of crime related topics and advice.
  • Attended 2 meetings of HWBIDCO (re High Wycombe town centre issues).
  • Attended the AGM of Thames Valley Neighbourhood Watch Association.
  • Attended 4 meetings of the South Buckinghamshire Independent Advisory Group.
  • Attended 5 Bucks Council Community Resilience Working Group meetings.
  • Attended a Hate Crime Forum of Bucks New University.
  • Attended a Burglary Meeting of Neighbourhood Watch Network.
  • Attended 3 Thames Valley Police meetings re rural crime.
  • Held a talk with Thames Valley Police Cadets to make them more aware of the role of NHW.
  • Started 13 new NHW schemes involving 15 new Co-ordinators for those schemes in the year.
